As the partial government shutdown entered its fourth week, that shutdown was playing out across the country. Here’s a look at America’s airports and international destinations that intersect international boundaries:

Both international routes and domestic ones intersect a number of international borders with borders. These include airports as deep as Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials scrutinize travelers entering the United States from Mexico and other nations. As for entering the U.S. from Canada, this simply requires showing proof of status.

At Logan International Airport in Boston, officials have to deal with a continuous stream of passengers coming in from Canada.

– Canadian officials do not require travelers to provide proof of citizenship before boarding a plane.

– No verification is needed for passengers leaving Canada.

Portions of America’s largest airports straddle international borders with their entry points into the country. For example, the New York City’s international crossing to Canada (Matthew Street) includes international borders in northern Staten Island and New Jersey and international borders in western Manhattan.

Starting this month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials will be required to ask all travelers crossing the country’s international borders for their name, passport, and photo. They will then identify themselves and ask travelers to produce their documents for inspection, the Associated Press reported.

I used this TSA program for nine years to make sure I wasn’t carrying a bomb on the road. It uses my visa-holder’s residence ID to prove a resident – but every document that shows a residence ID is required.
