Walking the walk: Hamilton ready to have ‘more fun’ as Red Bull highlight struggles

F1 news LIVE

Twitter NICO ROSBERG reveals he used to lose interest in Formula 1 with rival Max Verstappen.

Hamilton starts the race 12 points behind Vettel and is hopeful of overhauling the Ferrari driver.

And he’ll have an early chance to chase down his rivals as he starts from eighth on the grid in what looks set to be a straightforward race.

Verstappen will start from second on the grid after beating Vettel for pole.

Despite Verstappen setting a blistering pace in qualifying, Ferrari felt confident of leapfrogging Verstappen during the race.

And Hamilton is determined to become the “purest driver” as he tries to close the gap to Vettel.

“Driving here the great thing about it is you can let it go and we can actually let other people take advantage of our mistakes,” he said.

“That’s what you want to happen. I’m really happy with that, it would be more fun if I was up there in the points with them (Vettel and Verstappen) obviously.”

This kind of form brings a fine line between title contention and a first-ever three-year barren spell for the four-time world champion.

And he’s looking to hit the ground running in this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix.
